😷
a view of our hyper-dense city when I queued in the fire escape stairway for an hour to get medical masks

.
when places like Taiwan / Macau are doing a lot to stop the spreading of the Wuhan coronavirus and making sure that their citizens have enough masks at reasonable price - Hong Kong gov officials tend to be who they are - acting much slower, not reinforcing any actual boundary control, and not even promoting wearing masks in public speeches. The city is now desperately running out of masks with the available ones being sold at ridiculous prices. I was glad to have found someone who was in time to directly import a large batch from overseas manufacturers and re-sell them at regular price to help those in need. Even the collection arrangement was not perfect - no one in the queue complained and all were quietly waiting for their turn to get the few precious boxes of face masks...
.
most importantly, this is Hong Kong. It is hard to imagine how worse it could be in Wuhan or other cities in mainland
.
there are for sure times like this in life when we see existing systems not working - it is important that we see it as a chance to push for ways to improve them, and at the same time, not to forget about supporting others whenever we can. We all can be true heroes if we do one step further
